Yard Waste and Glass Pick-up Program

The City of Duncan’s yard waste and glass pick up program is off to a great start!

The first pick‐up of the yard waste season began with great results; nearly 150 households put out their yard waste and clean recyclable glass for pick up. Approximately 3 tonnes of yard waste and almost 1 tonne of glass was picked up curbside, eliminating the need for people to make a trip to Bing’s Creek.

“The City is pleased to offer this service to our citizens and are happy to see the increase in participation. I encourage even more residents to participate in the months to come,” said Mayor Kent.

The City would like to remind residents that the following items are eligible for pickup:

  • Up to ten (10) large compostable garbage‐bags of yard waste, including leaves and plants
  • Up to 2 bundles of sticks up to 2 inches in diameter and no more than 3 feet long tied with cotton string, weighing no more than 50 lbs
  • Unlimited loose glass in clean bins (e.g. blue bins)

Regular household waste, organics, or construction wood waste is not permitted.

Save time and money by taking advantage of this great program yourself! Bring your yard waste and glass to the curb on the first garbage or recycling day of each month.
