Live Video Streaming of Council Meetings
Live, video streaming coverage of City Council meetings is being launched in Duncan. Citizens interested in City issues will be able to stay up to date with Council’s latest decisions as they watch Council meetings online. Accessible through the city website, the new service enables citizens to view council deliberations live or on-demand.
“We are very pleased to introduce video streaming coverage of our Council meetings for the citizens of Duncan,” said Mayor Phil Kent. “It’s a great tool that allows citizens to stay on top of City initiatives and provides greater transparency regarding decisions made that affect our community.”
The City has contracted with Granicus, an award-winning cloud applications provider for government transparency, efficiency and citizen participation. Its solutions are designed specifically to help public agencies establish meaningful connections with their community online. In addition to the City of Duncan, other cities using Granicus include Victoria, North Saanich and Delta.
“Citizens will be able to access live and archived meeting videos along with supporting materials such as staff reports and meeting agendas,” said Kent. “Successful communities foster engaged citizens.”
Video streaming coverage will commence at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013 with the City of Duncan Council meeting. To view this meeting and a list of archived meetings, please visit Council Meetings.
