Director of Public Works and Engineering – Screening

Due to an upcoming retirement, the City has an exciting opportunity for a creative relationship builder who has specific expertise in civil engineering and public works operations.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Public Works and Engineering is a member of the senior management team and plays a crucial role in supporting initiatives across all departments.

This role requires a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience at a senior management level, with specific experience in both engineering and operations in a local government setting. A post-secondary education in engineering would be an asset. We are seeking a proactive individual with superior verbal and written communication skills, exceptional project management skills, and a highly effective decision maker.  You should also have a successful track record of using your technical expertise and problem solving, finding innovative solutions and working collaboratively with all interested parties to find win-win solutions that protect the community interests and make recommendations to City Council. This role is instrumental in maintaining strong working relationships with the planning and building functions of the City.
