Council Update – March 4, 2024

The City of Duncan Council Update is a snapshot of items considered at meetings of Council. These are not the official minutes. Meeting agendas, minutes, and videos can be accessed through the City’s Council Meeting Portal.

  • A Public Hearing was held at 4:00 pm in Council Chamber. Council received input from members of the public on Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 3226, 2024, a bylaw to establish an Official Community Plan for the entirety of the City of Duncan.
  • At the Regular Council meeting, Council gave Third Reading and Final Adoption to the Official Community Plan Bylaw.
  • Council received the report of the Chief Administrative Officer that included updates on a number of City initiatives.
  • Council approved a development permit application for 257 Evans Street to facilitate the construction of a 54-unit multi-unit residential / assisted living (55+) development.
  • Council approved a new Special Event Permit & Field Use Request Policy to support a streamlined event permit application process. The Facility Use Application, Event Street/Sidewalk Use Application, and Beer Garden Application forms have been replaced with a single Special Event Permit Application form.
  • Council considered First, Second and Third Readings of the Fees & Charges Amendment Bylaw No 3212.07, 2024. This amendment includes proposed updates to the nuisance abatement fees, false alarm charges, subdivision fees, and event permit fees.
  • Council approved Final Adoption of Financial Plan Bylaw No 3241, 2024. More information on the 2024 budget is available here.
  • Council proclaimed March 2024 as Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month in the City of Duncan.

The next Regular Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
