Council Update – April 2, 2024
The City of Duncan Council Update is a snapshot of items considered at meetings of Council. These are not the official minutes. Meeting agendas, minutes, and videos can be accessed through the City’s Council Meeting Portal.
- Council received the report of the Chief Administrative Officer that included updates on a number of City initiatives.
- Council approved a development permit application for 940 Government Street to facilitate the construction of a primary care centre.
- Council gave first, second and third Readings of the Works and Services Amendment Bylaw No. 3158.02, 2024. This proposed amendment clarifies utility undergrounding requirements, and includes recommended additions related to rain gardens, bioswales, tree outlets, bike lanes, crosswalks, and EV charging capacity.
- Council adopted Fees and Charges Amendment Bylaw No. 3212.07, 2024.
A Committee of the Whole meeting was also held, where direction was provided to staff on the following items:
- Bring forward a budget amendment to a future Council meeting to facilitate the removal of the scramble crossing at Canada Avenue and Ingram Street intersection and replace it with a protected only left turn signal phase for Canada Ave southbound left (to Ingram).
- Undertake public input on selecting one of three options for replacing the five remaining American Sweetgum trees in City Square in 2024.
- Issue a tender to purchase a Street Sweeper.
