Liquor Licensing

Liquor Licenses are issued by the Province of British Columbia’s Liquor Control and Licensing Branch (LCLB). The LCLB requires local government support prior to issuing new liquor licences or amending existing liquor licences for liquor-primary establishments. Council supports responsible liquor-primary licensees who demonstrate a commitment to minimizing the negative impacts of their business operations on the community.

Special Occasion Licences

If you are hosting a special event (e.g., wedding, sports tournament, dinner and dance, or other type of one-time event) and want to serve beer, wine or spirits, you need a Special Occasion Licence.

In 2014, City Council authorized the Duncan Farmers’ Market to host licensed manufacturers (winery, brewery, or distillery) with an on-site store endorsement to sell their packaged liquor (for off-site consumption) at the Duncan Farmers’ Market.
