The City’s sewer system carries waste away from homes, businesses, and city services. Our sewer system’s capacity can be reduced by obstructions and accumulations of household items such as grease, hair, sanitary products, paper towel, garbage, wet wipes and other materials incorrectly described as “disposable”. You can help keep the sewer system flowing by keeping grease out of the drain and only flushing human waste and toilet paper down the toilet.
For sewer rates please see the Fees & Charges Bylaw.
Sewer Emergencies: Please report emergencies involving sewer issues immediately to Public Works:

Toilet Rebate Program
The City offers a rebate to replace toilets that use 13 litres or more, with a CSA-approved high-efficiency model. The rebate is $50 for a high-efficiency (4.8 litres) or dual flush (3-6 litres).
By replacing your old toilet, you could use up to one-third less water! That could save more than 200 litres per day or 70,000 litres per year.
Who is eligible for the rebate?
- Property owners that are connected to both the City of Duncan water and sewer systems.
- The rebate is also available to those property owners that are supplied the City of Duncan water, are on the City’s sewer system or on a self-contained septic system but may not live within the City’s boundaries.
