Proclamations
Each year, the City of Duncan receives proclamation requests from organizations for specific events or occasions being held by the organization on their behalf or for the general public.
The social and cultural value of organizations and events pursuing objectives that benefit the community are often recognized by proclamations focusing on the attention of the local community. Council’s consideration of proclamations is to fulfil a request rather than taking a position. Council will consider Cowichan Valley represented proclamation requests and vote on each proclamation individually.
Council will not consider requests that are defamatory, hateful, racist, discriminatory, homophobic, sexist, disrespectful, commercial or contrary to City’s policies or bylaws.
Requests, including draft wording for the proclamation, should be received at least one month before the event or occasion to duncan@duncan.ca.
