A Business Licence is required by every business (including non-profit Societies, home based businesses, and out of town businesses) operating in the City of Duncan. A person who carries on business from more than one location shall obtain a licence for each business location.
For mobile businesses, the City of Duncan Business Licence automatically authorizes operations in Lake Cowichan, North Cowichan and Ladysmith (see Intermunicipal Business Licence Bylaw). For those mobile business owners who conduct business further up island, an Inter-Community Business Licence can be purchased for an additional fee. These licences authorize business owners to operate in the 13 participating municipalities from Duncan to as far north as Campbell River.
