The City of Duncan Enhanced Security Initiative Program (ESIP) is a program created as an incentive for commercial property owners to implement measures that would improve public safety and enhance protection and security of their buildings and surrounding properties.

The ESIP is a matching grant opportunity for property owners to apply for any new safety or security project that they choose with a 50% reimbursement up to a maximum of $1,000 (CAD).

How do I apply for the program?

Review the program guide to determine your eligibility. If you are eligible to apply, complete the application form, attach any required supporting documents and submit.

Who reviews the applications?

A Review Committee has been established and consists of the Manager of Building & Bylaw Services and Corporate Services Coordinator of the City of Duncan. The Committee’s primary responsibility is to review all applications, determine eligibility of enhancements, and make recommendations and decisions.

What types of security enhancements are eligible?

Any new safety or security project that you choose. Examples include; video surveillance equipment, security systems, enhanced exterior building/parking lot/lane-way lighting, gates and deadbolts or door locks.

Who is eligible to apply?

Commercial properties within City’s jurisdiction are eligible to apply, provided the applicant is in “good standing” with the City and meets all application requirements. Both owners and renters can apply. For those looking to enhance security on their rental, you must submit a ‘Letter of Consent’ from the Building/Property Owner’ with the application.
