City Chooses new Director of Finance

The City of Duncan is very pleased to announce the selection of its new Director of Finance, Ms. Talitha Soldera, CGA.

Ms. Soldera is a long time Cowichan Valley resident who has held the position of Director of the Local Government Finance division of the Provincial Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development since 2007. Ms. Soldera is keenly interested and extremely knowledgeable in our Local Government system and our community.

The City conducted a thorough competition for the Director of Finance position, with many applicants, and felt that Ms. Soldera provided the best combination of knowledge, experience, and fit for the City of Duncan.

Newly appointed Chief Administrative Officer, Peter de Verteuil, CGA commented, “The City is extremely pleased to have had the opportunity to select from such a strong list of candidates, and that Ms. Soldera was interested in being a part of our senior management team. I believe this speaks to the City’s strong reputation for its fiscal and corporate management.  Ms. Soldera’s knowledge of the Local Government legislation and framework will be a definite asset to the City.”

Outgoing CAO Tom Ireland has served the City extremely well in his 7 years with the City of Duncan, and retired on April 26, 2013. Mr. de Verteuil’s appointment was effective April 27, 2013.

Ms. Soldera’s start date will be June 3, 2013.  Please join us in providing a warm welcome to Talitha Soldera.
