PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Section 40 (3) of the Community Charter, that the City of Duncan proposes to close to traffic a portion of EJ Hughes Place (“Closed Road”) and remove its dedication as a highway in order to undertake a consolidation of the Closed Road and 262 EJ Hughes Place, Plan 2070. The Closed Road area is approximately 1395 m2 shown crosshatched on the site plan below. The second and third reading of the bylaw closing this road and removing its dedication will be considered by Council on August 20, 2018.
On adoption of the bylaw, further to Section 26 of the Community Charter, the City of Duncan gives notice of its intention to sell to 1146824 BC Ltd., the owner of the adjacent 262 EJ Hughes Place, fee simple title to that approximate 1395 m2 parcel for the appraised value of $270,000 as well as a contribution of $200,000 to the City’s parking reserve, or the developer may be permitted, at Council’s discretion, to provide public parking as an alternative to the $200,000 contribution. The City will register statutory right of ways on the parcel for vehicle and pedestrian access as well as underground and above ground utilities.
Any person(s) who consider they are affected by the proposed road closure or disposition may appear in person or by agent, the evening of the Council meeting on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m., or submit written comments to the Director of Corporate Services prior to the meeting by email at paige@duncan.ca or by mail to 200 Craig Street, Duncan, BC V9L 1W3.
