Duncan Street Project Update – Feb. 26, 2020

FEBRUARY 26, 2020

RE:  Duncan Street project update

The City of Duncan is about to get started on the water main replacement on Duncan Street. City workers will begin by installing an above ground temporary water main and services later this week. This temporary water main will stay in place until the new water main has been completed in about 6 weeks’ time.

The new water main construction will begin on Monday, March 2, 2020, at Coronation and Duncan Streets and work its way south thereafter. There will be a construction bin on the opposite side of Duncan Street which the old water main will be deposited. Duncan Street will be fully closed within the work area. This work area will be approximately 50 meters long and will shift south as the water main is installed.

This full road closure will enable the most efficient work plan and will ensure the highest level of safety for the public and the workers.

The surface works (new sidewalk, rain garden, landscaping etc) will occur after the new water main is installed and will include single lane closures at that time.

Every attempt to reduce inconvenience to you and/or your customers will be carried out. However, we ask you to bear in mind that the complexity of the project may result in some unexpected occurrences that may cause concern.

Please contact John Pite, Manager of Engineering if you have any questions or concerns.
