Notice of Development Variance Permit (DVP-2022-03) 490 St Julien Street & 481 Trans-Canada Highway

This notice is to advise that Council will consider issuance of a Development Variance Permit for the following properties: (1) LOT A, SECTION 17, RANGE 6, QUAMICHAN DISTRICT, PLAN VIP51927, located at 490 St Julien Street; and (2) PARCEL “E” (DD37712-I) OF SECTION 17, RANGE 6, QUAMICHAN DISTRICT, located at 481 Trans-Canada Hwy.

The applicant has applied for a Development Variance Permit to authorize the following:

  1. a comprehensive sign plan, pursuant to Section 7 of City of Duncan Sign Bylaw No. 3095, 2013, to permit signage on 481 Trans-Canada Highway that is different that the provisions of the Sign Bylaw; and
  2. a variance to section 3.9.4 of Zoning Bylaw No. 3166, 2017 to permit existing fences installed within the front yards of 481 Trans-Canada Highway and 490 St Julien Street to remain.

The proposed permit will be available for public review from Friday, June 10, 2022, to Monday, June 20, 2022, on the City’s website: www.duncan.ca. Council will consider this application at the Regular Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, June 20, 2022, 6:00 p.m in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 200 Craig Street, Duncan BC. Any person who believes their interests may be affected by this proposed permit may provide written comments mailed or delivered to City Hall and addressed to Director of Corporate Services, City of Duncan, 200 Craig Street, Duncan BC V9L 1W3 or emailed to paige@duncan.ca by 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, to ensure inclusion in the public record. Written comments received after 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, and before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022, will be submitted for public record during the meeting. Any person who wishes to speak to this application, an opportunity will be afforded during the meeting.
