Duncan Receives Award for Financial Reporting for 11th Year in a Row
The City of Duncan’s annual financial report for the year ended December 31, 2021, was awarded the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the 11th consecutive year. The report goes beyond the requirements for generally accepted accounting principles. It demonstrates an effort to clearly communicate the City’s financial picture, enhance the understanding of financial reporting and address user needs in the annual report.
The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Program was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high quality financial reports and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.
Mayor Michelle Staples offers congratulations and heartfelt appreciation to the finance team for their incredible dedication and high standards in producing award-winning reports for the City year after year.
The report has been judged by impartial Canadian Review Committee members to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the City’s financial information. The City of Duncan is proud of its finance team for their consistent efforts to produce high-quality financial reports that demonstrate transparency and accountability to its citizens. This recognition by GFOA highlights the City’s commitment to financial reporting excellence.
