New Accessible McAdam Park Playground Opens in the City of Duncan
DUNCAN – The City of Duncan is excited to announce the opening of a new accessible playground at McAdam Park.
The new playground is the result of public consultation through the development of the McAdam and Rotary Parks Master Plan between 2018 and 2021, and more recently through community surveys to select preferred play equipment. Featuring small and large play areas, and accessible features including rubber surfacing, this play space has been designed with everyone in mind.
“This is going to be such an amazing spot for kids and the community to come together, enjoy the outdoors, connect with family, friends, and nature,” said Mayor Michelle Staples. “I’m thrilled we’ve been able to bring this fantastic space to life, with extensive input from the users of the park, ensuring McAdam Park becomes an even more vibrant jewel for citizens and visitors of all ages.”
A key accessibility feature of the playground is the rubber surfacing under the small play area, which was made possible through a grant from the Kal Tire RePlay Fund. Grant funding for the project was also received from the Social Planning and Research Council of BC.
The new playground is now open and ready for play following an official opening held on January 9, 2025.
