Council Update – February 10, 2025
The City of Duncan Council Update is a snapshot of items considered at meetings of Council. These are not the official minutes. Meeting agendas, minutes, and videos can be accessed through the City’s Council Meeting Portal.
- Cowichan Housing Association presented to Council, providing an overview of their initiatives.
- Council received the report of the Chief Administrative Officer that includes updates on a number of City initiatives.
- Council approved that a meeting be held outside of the City of Duncan’s jurisdiction to accommodate a joint meeting with North Cowichan Council at North Cowichan Municipal Hall on February 25, 2025.
- Council approved updates to the Advisory Design Panel Terms of Reference.
- Council approved an update to the Public Performance Code of Conduct policy.
- Council gave three readings to Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 3166.09, 2025 – a bylaw to facilitate the development of a 6-storey, 98-unit residential building (phase 1) and two 6-storey mixed use buildings, each containing 90 dwelling units and ground floor commercial uses (phase 2) at 140 Trans-Canada Highway.
- Council gave three readings to Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 3166.08, 2025 – a bylaw to facilitate the development of a 6 storey, 69-unit mixed use building, with commercial and daycare uses on the ground floor and rental residential uses at 533, 561, and 573 Dobson Road.
- Council adopted Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 3166.10, 2025 – a bylaw to facilitate the development of a 6 storey, 84-unit rental apartment building at 490 Ypres Street and 483 and 491 Festubert Street.
- Council proclaimed March 21, 2025 as World Down Syndrome Day in the City of Duncan.
