Council Update – June 23, 2025
The City of Duncan Council Update is a snapshot of items considered at meetings of Council. These are not the official minutes. Meeting agendas, minutes, and videos can be accessed through the City’s Council Meeting Portal.
- Council received the report of the Chief Administrative Officer that includes updates on a number of City initiatives.
- Council received the 2024 Annual Report and approved the 2024 Statement of Financial Information.
- Council received a 2025 Budget Update.
- Council received the Climate Action Report for 2024 and directed staff to purchase 217 carbon credits at an approximate total cost of $6,500 funded from the Local Government Climate Action Program reserve.
- Council awarded the tender for Gibbins Reservoir Tank #2 Lining to MCL Group Ltd. for the contract amount of $416,275, plus GST, plus construction contingency.
- Council authorized staff to enter into a revised Licence of Occupation agreement with Duncan Farmers’ Market Society for the use of Duncan City Square and a portion of Ingram Street for the weekly Saturday farmers’ market and monthly night market. The Downtown Duncan Business Improvement Area Society has been removed from the agreement as they will no longer be managing events in City Square effective July 1, 2025.
- Council gave three readings to Curbside Collection Bylaw No. 3256, 2025 – a bylaw to establish automated solid waste collection service in the City of Duncan.
- Council gave three readings to Fees and Charges Amendment Bylaw No. 3212.10 – a bylaw to update garbage, recycling, and organics collection fees, and other miscellaneous amendments.
- Council adopted Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 3166.08, 2025 – a bylaw to rezone 553, 561, and 573 Dobson Road.
- Council adopted Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 3166.09, 2025 – a bylaw to rezone 140 Trans-Canada Highway.
