Appointment of Deputy Fire Chief Leanne Closson
DUNCAN – The City of Duncan is pleased to announce the appointment of Leanne Closson to the position of Deputy Fire Chief for the Duncan Fire Department. This appointment was made after Wray Watson retired his position as Deputy Fire Chief to be appointed as Fire Chief.
Leanne joined the Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter in 2005, was appointed to the position of Captain in 2017, and appointed as Assistant Fire Chief in 2020.
Leanne has organized and been involved in many fundraisers supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Dragon Divas breast cancer survivor dragon boat team, local families going through hard times, and the BC Children’s Hospital.
Leanne has been involved in many sports in the Cowichan Valley including softball, soccer, and flag football, and was a coach for the girls’ softball through the Duncan Junior Baseball Association.
In 2019, Leanne received the Scroll of Honour designation from the City.
