Two-Tier Fee at Cowichan Aquatic Centre Removed for Residents of the Town of Lake Cowichan

The Municipality of North Cowichan, City of Duncan and Town of Lake Cowichan are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to end the two-tier fee structure at the Cowichan Aquatic Centre for residents of the Town of Lake Cowichan. Beginning immediately residents of the Town will no longer be required to pay the higher two-tier fee to use the pool.

“I’m very pleased to have the Town of Lake Cowichan as a participating community so its citizens can enjoy this excellent facility. I really appreciate the efforts made by Mayor Forrest and his Council in helping make this a reality,” stated Phil Kent, Mayor of the City of Duncan. “We welcome the citizens of Lake Cowichan to the Cowichan Aquatic Centre,” he added.

“It has been a long time coming and I’m pleased that we could make this happen as we start the new year,” said Ross Forrest, Mayor of the Town of Lake Cowichan. He added, “I have heard from many people who want equal access to the pool and now they can enjoy this great facility at an affordable cost.”

The two-tier fee structure will remain in place for the non-contributing areas of Area F – Cowichan Lake South/Skutz Falls and Area I – Youbou. Mayor Lefebure stated, “I am hopeful that in the near future we can reach an agreement to eliminate two-tier fees for the citizens of Areas F and I so they can enjoy the Cowichan Aquatic Centre at the same rates enjoyed by residents of the current partners.”
