Duncan Receives Award for Financial Reporting for Fifth Year in a Row

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the City of Duncan the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting. This is the 5th consecutive award presented to the City of Duncan for surpassing the requirements for generally accepted accounting principles and clearly communicating the City’s finances in the annual report.

The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Program was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high quality financial reports and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.  Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“I am pleased to congratulate staff on producing award winning reports year after year” said Mayor Phil Kent. “I would like to recognize our Director of Finance, Talitha Soldera, and the whole finance team for all their excellent work.”

The award was presented to the City of Duncan for the 2015 Annual Financial Report. The report has been judged by impartial Canadian Review Committee members to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the City’s financial information.

“I am extremely proud of our staff,” says Talitha Soldera, Director of Finance. “I would like to commend all those involved for making our annual report both informative and easily accessible for all residents.”
