Public Notice: Proposed Property Disposition – 325 First Street

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 26(3) of the Community Charter that the City of Duncan intends to dispose by way of an irrevocable transfer of title a 1,630 m2 portion of Lot 4, Block 8, Section 18, Range 5, Quamichan District, Plan 12568, Except Part in Plan 29453, PID 004-792-823, located at 325 First Street Duncan, BC., as shown on the map below (A).

Wiser Projects, representing the Duncan Housing Society, is seeking through a Land Exchange Agreement, to acquire ownership of approximately 1,630 m2 of land (A) (portion of Centennial Park parking lot), proportionally assessed at approximately $9,690, from the City of Duncan in exchange for approximately 2,415 m2 of land (B) located at 322 First Street (portion of the Cowichan Lawn Bowling Site), assessed at $217,000 including buildings, to accommodate the two-phased development of two new affordable housing multi-family residential buildings for seniors and persons living with disabilities to replace the current Duncan Manor (C).

Council will consider this proposed property disposition and land exchange at the electronic Special Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, December 13, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. To watch the Council meeting, live-streamed, please go to https://duncan.civicweb.net/Portal/Video.aspx or search on https://www.youtube.com/ for “City of Duncan”.  If you are unable to or do not have the ability to access the meeting electronically, the meeting can be attended and viewed in Council Chambers at City Hall, 200 Craig Street, Duncan, BC, at the scheduled meeting time. Please note, Council will be attending electronically and due to capacity restrictions, we strongly recommend attending electronically if you have the ability to do so.

Any person who wishes to comment on the proposed disposition and land exchange may provide written comments mailed or delivered to City Hall and addressed to Director of Corporate Services, City of Duncan, 200 Craig Street, Duncan BC  V9L 1W3 or emailed to monika@duncan.ca by 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2021, to ensure inclusion in the public record.  Written comments received after 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, and before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021, will be submitted for public record during the meeting.
