New Smoking Regulations
City of Duncan ‘Smoking Regulation Bylaw No. 3064’ now prohibits smoking in the following areas of the City:
Province Refunds 2009 – 2012 Policing Costs
Council for the City of Duncan is pleased to announce that the Province of BC has refunded the $1,351,519 in policing costs paid by the City of Duncan from the period April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2012. This was a result of a change in government policy regarding which population data set to use to determine policing responsibility.
EJ Hughes Place
The City of Duncan is honouring one of the Cowichan Valley’s most prolific artists, E.J. Hughes, by renaming the west-end of Station Street, between Government Street and the City Boundary, to ‘EJ Hughes Place’.
Two Senior Staff Retiring
The City of Duncan is losing two highly valued senior staff due to retirement. Chief Administrative Officer, Tom Ireland, and Director of Corporate Services, Lynn Ketch, will both be retiring from the City of Duncan effective April 26, 2013.
